Lesson 1

Saju vs. your star sign

If you know your star sign, you already know how to read half of this. Saju just asks for more than your birthday.

Who's teaching this one?

1 of 5

You already know one of these

Your star sign comes from one thing: where the sun was on the day you were born. One date, twelve possible answers.

Saju asks four questions

Korean saju takes your year, your month, your day and your hour. Each one is written as two characters, which is why the chart is called "eight characters".

Twelve boxes, or hundreds of thousands

Twelve sun signs sort everyone alive into twelve groups. Eight characters sort them into hundreds of thousands, before anybody interprets anything.

One of the eight is you

The character for your birth day is the one that means you. The other seven are the weather around it.

Not a rival to astrology

Same question — what kind of energy is this person — read with a different calendar. You are allowed to like both.

Your eight characters

Type a birth date and the engine builds the chart. No sign-up, nothing saved.

Your birth date is enough. Nothing is saved, and you don't need an account.

The date is used to compute the chart and then it's gone. It's never stored or sent to analytics.

In one line

A star sign is the headline. Eight characters are the article.

Quick questions

Is saju the same as Chinese BaZi?
The same four-pillar system, read through a Korean lineage. The characters are identical; the emphasis, the vocabulary and the interpretation differ.
Do I need my birth time?
No. Three of the four pillars come from the date alone. The hour pillar needs a time, and every reading says so plainly when it is missing instead of quietly guessing.

Words from this lesson

Was this fun?

For entertainment. Saju describes tendencies, not fixed outcomes.
