The Five Elements
Every character in a Saju chart belongs to one of five elements, and their balance shapes the whole reading.
The generating cycle
Wood feeds fire, fire makes earth, earth bears metal, metal carries water, and water nourishes wood. An element that feeds yours tends to read as support.
The controlling cycle
Wood parts earth, earth contains water, water puts out fire, fire melts metal, and metal cuts wood. Control is not bad: it gives shape, discipline and structure.
Balance and imbalance
A chart heavy in one element shows a strong theme; a missing element shows an area that needs conscious effort. Readers weigh the month branch more heavily because it sets the season.
Element colours
On our charts, wood is green, fire red, earth gold, metal silver-grey and water blue, so you can see the balance at a glance.
Is a missing element bad?
No. It points to an area that takes effort rather than coming by default.
Which element am I?
Your Day Master’s element is the usual answer, but the full balance matters as much.
