Year of the Rooster
Rooster: precise · honest · hard-working
Basics
The Rooster is the 10th sign of the cycle, a yin metal branch in Korean Saju.
Traditional luck for the Rooster: numbers 4 and 9, colours white and silver, direction west.
Recent Rooster years: 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, 2029. In Saju the year changes at Ipchun (around 4 February), so a January birthday in a Rooster calendar year can still belong to the animal before the Rooster.
Personality
People born in a Rooster year are often described as precise, honest and hard-working.
The Rooster's growth area is letting the hard-working streak rest when it doesn't serve them.
2026 Outlook
2026 is a fire horse year; for the Rooster, the Horse is neutral for the Rooster, so results follow effort.
2027 is a fire goat year; for the Rooster, the Goat is neutral for the Rooster, so results follow effort.
Compatibility
The Rooster pairs most easily with the Dragon, Ox and Snake, and has to work harder with the Tiger and Rabbit.
Your animal is only one pillar
Your Rooster sign is just the year pillar; Korean Saju adds the month, day and hour, which is why two Rooster people can read very differently.
