Year of the Dog
Dog: loyal · fair-minded · steady
Basics
The Dog is the 11th sign of the cycle, a yang earth branch in Korean Saju.
Traditional luck for the Dog: numbers 5 and 10, colours yellow and brown, direction centre.
Recent Dog years: 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, 2030. In Saju the year changes at Ipchun (around 4 February), so a January birthday in a Dog calendar year can still belong to the animal before the Dog.
Personality
People born in a Dog year are often described as loyal, fair-minded and steady.
The Dog's growth area is letting the steady streak rest when it doesn't serve them.
2026 Outlook
2026 is a fire horse year; for the Dog, the Horse belongs to the same harmony group, so teamwork pays off.
2027 is a fire goat year; for the Dog, the Goat is neutral for the Dog, so results follow effort.
Compatibility
The Dog pairs most easily with the Rabbit, Horse and Monkey, and has to work harder with the Snake and Dragon.
Your animal is only one pillar
Your Dog sign is just the year pillar; Korean Saju adds the month, day and hour, which is why two Dog people can read very differently.
