In one sentence
Two branches sitting on opposite sides of the circle, pushing against each other.
How it is used
A clash reads as movement: a change of place, of work, of relationship, something that will not sit still. Readings usually meet it when an annual branch lands on a natal branch, and the useful question is which part of the chart is being moved, not whether the year is good or bad. It is a shake rather than damage, and plenty of people look back on clash years as the ones where something finally shifted.
